Youth In BC Chat is a free online crisis, suicide prevention, and emotional support service for youth under 25 in British Columbia and Yukon. We offer a safe space where we listen without judgment, and our chats remain private and confidential.

 If you are in immediate danger, feeling unsafe or have taken action to harm yourself, please call 9-1-1.

Foundry BC: A network of youth service centres across BC providing mental health, substance use, and primary care services for young people ages 12-24. Visit their website to find a location near you.

KUU-US Crisis Line: A 
24-hour crisis service specifically for Indigenous youth, with a dedicated youth line at 250-723-2040. Visit their website: https://www.kuu-uscrisisline.com/ for more information and resources.

Kids Help Phone: A 24/7 phone and online counselling service for youth up to age 29. Call 1-800-668-6868 or text CONNECT to 686868. Visit their website for more information and resource.

Youthspace.ca: An online chat and text support service for youth in Canada. Visit their website to access the service.

BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services: A government-funded program providing a range of mental health and substance use services for youth and adults in BC. Visit their website to find a service near you.

Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre: A provincial resource centre that provides information and resources on mental health and substance use for children, youth, and their families. Call 1-800-665-1822 or visit their website.

Foundry BC - Youth Resources

Foundry is a province-wide network for integrated health and wellness services for young people aged 12-24. Their integrated approach allows access to 5 core services including: mental health care, substance use services, physical and sexual health care, youth and family peer supports, and social services. No referrals needed!

Three ways to access their services:

1. Walk in: Visit one of their 16 local Foundry centres.
2. Online: Explore their tools and resources at foundrybc.ca
3. Virtual Connection: Connect through the free Foundry BC app. 

Health Link BC

Healthlink BC provides reliable non-emergency health information and advice in British Columbia via telephone, website, app, and print resources.

Dial 8-1-1 to access the service. 


Here are some of the services you can access by calling 8-1-1:

  • Dietitian Services: Speak to a registered dietitian from 9 am to 5 pm Pacific Time, Monday to Friday.
  • Nursing Services: Speak to a registered nurse any time, every day of the year for non-emergency, confidential health education and advice.
  • Pharmacist Services: Speak to a pharmacist from 5 pm to 9 am Pacific Time every day of the year.
  • Physical Activity Services: Speak to a qualified exercise professional from 9 am to 5 pm Pacific Time, Monday to Friday.
  • Translation Services: Available in more than 130 languages. Just say the language you want (e.g., "Punjabi"), and an interpreter will join the call.

BC 211

​BC 211 is a confidential and multilingual help line and online database that connects individuals with a range of community, social, and government services in British Columbia, Canada.

  • Mental health and crisis intervention services: BC 211 can connect youth with crisis lines, counselling services, and mental health programs.
  • Housing and homelessness services: information on housing resources, emergency shelters, and other services related to homelessness.
  • Employment and education services: information on employment and training programs, educational opportunities, and career planning services.
  • Youth programs and services:  connect youth with recreational programs, leadership development opportunities, and other youth-focused services in their community.
  • Substance use services: information on addiction treatment programs, harm reduction services, and other resources related to substance use.
  • Legal and financial assistance:  connect youth with legal aid services, financial assistance programs, and other resources related to legal and financial issues.
