Suidical Feelings

Facts about suicide

You might be feeling right now like you're all alone in a really horrible place, and that no one out there can understand what you're going through. But you might be surprised to know how many people out there are actually experiencing something similar.

Suicide

  • Thinking about suicide is not uncommon. Approximately 2/3rds of all high school students will consider suicide at some point before they graduate from high school.
  • People who attempt suicide do not want to die. 80% of those who die by suicide give warnings first. Suicide is about stopping the pain.
  • People who threaten to commit suicide mean what they say. Attempted and completed suicides are preceded by a verbal or written warning in 80% of all cases.
  • A non-lethal attempt is not just "looking for attention". An attempt is a cry for help. About 80% of lethal suicides follow an earlier attempt.
